We invite all those working within healthcare and the NHS to join us to improve the patient journey. We've heard from members who have been hung up on, misunderstood, rushed, or laughed at because of how they speak. You can read more of their stories in our GP appointments: patient experiences.
Help us create lasting change which we believe will help every patient, not just those who stammer.
HOW WE CAN HELP
At STAMMA, we provide training and materials to help you with service user journeys:
Workshop & video
Sign up for our workshop 'Talking with patients who stammer' on 20th October or watch our short video for staff working in GP practices.
Patient contact guide
Download our Patient Contact Guide. It gives simple recommendations and practical tips for making the patient's journey accessible. It includes for example, what to do if you get a silent phone call.
Work with us directly
We offer bespoke workshops and resources on stammering inclusivity. The sessions can be tailored to meet your needs and can be conducted remotely or in person. Contact us at training@stamma.org or via our helpline or webchat service.
*Read about the campaign, our survey findings and a report of patient experiences. Download 'The experiences of people who stammer making a GP appointment'.
