Stamma Chair's 2.6 Telephone Challenge

The 2.6 Challenge has come at a crucial time for charities. Stamma, like most charities, has seen its fundraising plummet as a result of Covid-19 at a time when our services are needed more than ever. The 2.6 Challenge is a call to all Stamma members to support their charity as much as they can. 

That’s why I’m going to be putting myself on the line…

There was a time when I would find EVERY excuse in the book not to use the the phone. 

The phone has been a nightmare for me. There was a time when I would find EVERY excuse in the book not to use the it. Not surprising since, when I did pluck up the courage, people would frequently put the phone down on me. Because I stammer. Although I’m more confident on it now, I still need to challenge myself every time I make a call to someone I don’t know.

In my time as a Trustee, and now as chair, I’ve talked to many people who stammer. So if, by chance, you get a call from me, don’t worry if you stammer. It’s what we do.

My 2.6 Challenge is to phone as many Stamma members as I can in 26 hours. Here's why...

1    Fundraising challenge.
2    Talk to members, some of whom may feel alone.
3    Find out how they have coped during lockdown.
4    Opportunity to get feedback on Stamma generally.
5    Opportunity to ask the chair anything!

So, I think I’ll do an average of 2.6 calls per hour for 26 hours. Four hours a day, for 6.5 days. I think I’ll talk to around 68 people in total.

The members that I call will be chosen randomly from the Stamma database. If anyone donates £50 or more, I’ll give them a special call.
