Are you a parent/guardian of children who stammer, a teacher or speech & language therapist (SLT)? If so, can you help a PhD student with her research into the stammer-anxiety link in children who stammer?
Zhixing Yang from University College London says “Some children who stammer experience anxiety in certain circumstances. Under the same circumstances, others don't. With this research project, we want to understand why this is. We wish to identify what environmental factors may be associated with this anxiety from various perspectives".
To do this, Zhixing has created a survey for parents, teachers and SLTs to share their experiences. It includes a series of multiple choice questions which Zhixing hopes will help identify these associated factors and better support children who stammer.
Who can take part?
Zhixing is looking for either:
- parents of primary or secondary school children who stammer who live in the UK
- teachers or educators working in primary or secondary schools. You must have professional experience with children who stammer.
- qualified speech & language therapists who either work in clinics or schools.
The survey should take 20 to 30 minutes to complete and you'll get a£4 gift voucher for finishing it.
If you would like to take part, please email Zhixing at zhixing.yang.19@ucl.ac.uk. She'll then send you a link to the online survey.
