Trustee election 2024 results
Introducing the two new STAMMA Trustees, as elected by you.
The votes from our 2024 Trustee election are in and we can announce that Lucy Weldon and Oliver Wills are your new STAMMA Trustees.
Every year, two Trustees step down when their terms come to an end and we hold an election where you our members choose two new ones.
This year there were four candidates vying for a place on the board, and the results were as follows:
Lucy Weldon: 30.9% of the vote
Oliver Wills: 26.4%
John Russell: 24.8%
Yubo Lin: 10.9%
Congratulations to Lucy and Oliver, who will each serve on the board for a three-year term. Here's a bit about both of them:
Lucy
Lucy Weldon has a brother who stammers, and says, "I've witnessed first-hand the challenges he has dealt with and have learned to adapt my listening and communication skills as a result".
As a relationship manager in the wealth management industry, Lucy says, "I hope to be able to raise awareness of stammering in the corporate world, to both change the perception of and reduce prejudice".
Oliver
Oliver Wills works in the commercial department of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), where he has developed skills which he believes can be brought to STAMMA to "continue to improve the offering to those seeking support and guidance". He's also part of the WRU's Inclusion Network, which is helping to develop the equality, diversity and inclusion strategy for the organisation. Oliver says, "This is a personal passion that I would love to take to STAMMA".
Having stammered since he was a child, Oliver says, "it has left me with a real empathy for those significantly affected by their stammer".
Read more about Lucy and Oliver on our Meet the Candidates page. They will be officially confirmed as Trustees at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM), which this year takes place at our STAMMAFest conference on Saturday 17th August in Nottingham.
See our STAMMA Trustees page to see the full list of current board members, which we will update after the AGM.
