Farewell George!

24th January 2023

Today we're saying farewell to George Somers, who's sadly leaving the STAMMA team for pastures new.

Since joining as Supporter Care Officer in early 2021, George has been an indispensable part of the team. At a time when we were all enduring a second gruelling lockdown, George came up with STAMMA Social, a series of online chat, music and one-to-one events that kept the community connected and entertained.

George wrote all the members' emails and took over the reins on our social media channels, helping us reach over 8,000 followers on Twitter and nearly doubling our Instagram following. He co-ordinated the fantastic STAMMIES award ceremony as well as our International Stammering Awareness Day activities, and kept the ever-popular quiz nights running smoothly.

George also organised all the fundraising events, going out of his way to ensure everyone had a great experience. He even took part himself, with his efforts at the Santa in the City Run 2021 being arguably his finest hour (see below).

Thank you George for all your hard work over the last two years, and all the very best for the future!
