STAMMA on BBC Breakfast: Removing barriers

Paragraphs

On Monday morning we were really pleased to have been featured on BBC Breakfast.

On the famous red sofa, our Deputy CEO Kirsten Howells talked about the barriers people who stammer face when engaging with customer-facing organisations (think cafes, banks and helplines), and how simple it is to enact small yet important changes to their processes.

It followed a powerful film where Nicole described the difficulties and barriers she faces when using services. She did brilliantly, and Kirsten didn't do too badly either! Watch the whole thing above.

Space to Stammer

The appearance illustrates our current 'Space to Stammer' campaign, which started with a single complaint and turned into a multi-sector movement to get customer-facing organisations to consider people who stammer.

Currently our focus is on coffee shops you'd think ordering a latte shouldn't be daunting, but it is for many who stammer. Read more about our Space to Stammer campaign.
