Petition to improve access to speech therapy
24th June 2021
Would you like to sign a petition urging the government to fund improvements to stammering and other communication therapy?
In recent years, NHS support for adults who stammer in some parts of the country have reduced or stopped completely. A recent report by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), showed that many people have not been able to access the speech and language therapy they need during the pandemic.
This has prompted STAMMA Trustee and speech & language therapist Gillian Rudd to set up a petition calling upon the UK government to fund improved support for people with communication and swallowing needs.
how to Sign the petition
Sorry, this petition is now closed.
Gillian says, "The ability to communicate and eat and drink safely are basic human rights. Being unable to access speech and language therapy makes peoples' lives worse in a number of ways, including their mental health. We are calling on the government to implement the RCSLT's report recommendations, and ensure that people with communication and swallowing needs are able to access the therapy they need".
10,000 signatures means the government will respond. If it gets 100,000 signatures, the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament.
