Watch it back: The Chat with author Helen Rutter

12th March 2021

Watch our chat with Helen Rutter, author of the children's book 'The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh'.

For the first instalment in 'The Chat', our new series of live events with influential figures from the stammering community, we spoke with author Helen Rutter about her children's book 'The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh', published by Scholastic Books.

It's all about an 11-year-old boy who stammers and dreams of being a stand-up comedian, and we asked Helen about the story behind the book. She talks about how she was inspired by her own son who stammers, and what she hopes readers will take from it. Asking the questions was STAMMA Trustee Betony Kelly and you can watch it above.

Read a review of 'The Boy Who Made Everyone Laugh', written by the parent of a child who stammers.
