Your opportunity to influence the design and development of stammering research.

We want to get people who stammer more involved in how research into stammering is designed. That's why we're inviting you to our online Research Arena on Saturday 16th September, 10am-11:30am. If you're a person who stammers, or if you are a researcher, you're welcome to join in.

Sign up for the Research Arena, Saturday 16th September.

At the Zoom event, up to two researchers will speak to an audience made up of people who stammer. They'll briefly describe their research idea or project related to stammering which they want to develop. Then the audience will have a chance to ask questions about the aims and plans for the idea or project, and give their own input.

By creating space for discussion and engagement, people who stammer can be influential in improving the quality and real-world relevance of stammering research.

You can take part in two ways:

1. Be part of the audience

Whether you know a lot, a little or nothing at all about stammering-related research, your experience of living with a stammer is valuable to researchers. Here's your opportunity to find out more, and to listen to, participate and influence research projects related to stammering.

2. Discuss your research idea or project

Are you doing or thinking of doing some research related to stammering? Whether you're a student or a seasoned researcher, the STAMMA Research Arena gives you the opportunity to increase public involvement in stammering research and the experiences of people who stammer.

This means that people with relevant experience of stammering and on what really matters can contribute to how your research is designed, conducted and disseminated.

So, if you're planning or developing a research project related to stammering, and would be interested in taking part, email us at with the following information:

  • briefly outline your research (just a few sentences are enough)
  • any questions you would like to pose to the group.

Join in. It's going to be interesting!

See our Research section to see what projects you can get involved with.
