Helpline Services Volunteer

Would you like to volunteer on the STAMMA Helpline Support Services?

We're looking for people who can give their time to work on our helpline, webchat and email support services, a hugely important part of our work.

This is frontline stuff, responding to people reaching out for information and support with stammering. It's a great opportunity to spend time speaking with people who stammer, as well as parents, grandparents, teachers and employers, taking the time to make space to listen and to value what they have to say.

Roles available

Hours: 2 to 4 hours per week (depending on shift) plus attending monthly online helpline team meetings.
Day & times:

  • Regular shift: either Wednesdays or Thursdays, 10am-2pm (four hours per week)
  • Floating support: Wednesdays 4-6pm plus two hours to cover shifts when needed (up to four hours per week)

What does the role involve?

  • Taking helpline calls.
  • Responding to webchats and emails.
  • Working on other areas of STAMMA's work when the services are quiet.
