Are you an adult who stammers? Mahmoud from the University of Leicester invites you to take part in a new research study.

Mahmoud is investigating whether adults who stammer and adults with dyslexia share some of the same challenges with verbal fluency.

He says, "We know that both groups can sometimes find it hard to get their words out, but we do not know why. By exploring these shared challenges, we hope to learn more about how our brains produce language. Plus, how that might be different for people who stammer".

What does it involve?

Mahmoud invites you to an online video call where you will play some fun language-based games and answer some questions. The session will last between one hour and 45 minutes to two hours.

As a thank you for your time, Mahmoud will give you a £20 voucher that you can use in a range of shops.

You need to be aged 18+ and stammer.

Why take part?

Mahmoud says, "We believe this research will help to reframe stammering as a natural part of a person's neurodiversity, just like dyslexia. This can help reduce the stigma around stammering and lead to better, more effective support".
