My YouTube video
13th June 2019
17-year-old Max tells us why he wanted to tell the world about his stammer. Watch his video below.
There isn’t much content for people with stammers to relate to on YouTube, so I thought my perspective of having a stammer would be something I'd like to see if it was the other way round.
This is my first ever video and I made it not to gain subscribers or popularity, but to put it out there on a platform where anything can be seen.
I wanted to do it in one take and make it look as natural as possible, not caring about stammering or trying to hide it so that it proves the point even more.
My mum was proud that I sent it to the British Stammering Association, as it is creating an opportunity, plus it's a good thing to do. Dad thought it was a good idea in terms of helping others and that it's a quick way to get a message out, as we had spoken about writing a blog about stammering.
Advice
Some advice I didn’t put in the video but have learnt now, is to definitely meet with other people who stammer. Doing this was one of the best things I have done to make me feel better and realise I am not alone, and that others out there feel the same frustrations as you.
