A free online workshop to help your organisation meet the needs of callers who stammer.

People who stammer make at least 43 million calls to businesses and organisations in the UK each year. Yet, over 65% of those calls are mishandled.

Callers who stammer are often hung up on, talked over, interrupted or rushed by call agents who aren't aware of how best to speak with people with speech differences. Sometimes they're even laughed at or ridiculed.

Then there are voice recognition systems that can trap callers who stammer by not providing enough time to talk or not recognising stammered speech.

You can stop this and make the experience a lot easier for people who stammer. It's also part of your legal duty under the Equality Act and Disability Discrimination Act (NI).

Come to STAMMA's free Zoom workshop 'Ending the phone call nightmares' on Wednesday 7th January 2026, 2pm-3pm, where we'll:

  • explain what stammering is and what's normal for callers who stammer
  • outline simple changes to your organisation's ways of working that can make a real difference.

There'll be 30 minutes of planned content and presentation. Then, if you have any questions or want to discuss anything, the session will remain open for a further 30 minutes. Click on the link below to sign up.

Register for the Ending the phone call nightmares workshop, Wednesday 7th January, 2pm.
