Statement on the invasion of Ukraine

We've been asked about STAMMA's response to the invasion of Ukraine. 

We are mindful as a charity that our core purpose is to support people who stammer and that we aren't experts in current affairs, but we also recognise the significance of these events, both for the millions directly affected, as well as more widely.

We believe in the power of community to create change and would therefore like to draw peoples attention to the following appeals in support of those in Ukraine:

• The Disasters Emergency Committee, who are working with leading UK aid charities to provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection for people affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Every pound raised is being matched by the UK Government, up to £20 million. Donate here.
• Voices of Children is a Ukrainian charity working to support children affected by the war. You can donate here (although your donation will be listed in Euros you will be shown the full amount in pound sterling before you are charged).

We are considering how to support refugees who stammer fleeing Ukraine and other countries, seeking refuge here in the UK and will share updates on this as soon as we can.
