Is there a connection between stammering, anxiety and decision-making? Mahmoud Elsherif from the University of Leicester wants your help to find out.

Mahmoud says, "Some people think those who stammer are nervous or less confident. With our research project, we want to see if that's really true".

He has created an online survey (see the link below) which includes a simple decision-making task and answering questions about anxiety-inducing situations. You need to be a native English speaker aged 18+ who has stammered since childhood to take part.

Complete the 'Decision making in adults who stammer' online survey.

It should take 20 mins on average but may take up to 30 mins. Complete it and you'll be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win £10.

Mahmoud will compare the results with those from people who don't stammer to try and understand if stammering actually influences decision-making. He says, "Ultimately, our project aims to challenge negative stereotypes about stammering, reduce stigma, and show that people who stammer are just as capable as anyone else".
