Black performers wanted for choreopoem
13th August 2021
If you have strong movement or performance skills, a writer and director wants you for his new production, especially if you stammer.
About the Project
Writer and director Sonny Nwachukwu is seeking black, male identifying/non-binary multi-disciplinary performers with strong movement/performance skills to perform in the lead roles in a new choreopoem (dance, spoken word and text) work entitled Eve and Cain.
Sonny especially encourages you to apply for this particular role if you stammer.
About Eve and Cain
Eve and Cain (working title) gives an honest dialogue on the intersectionalities of being black, gay and disabled whilst focusing on stammering from an internalised, emotional and personal context.
It offers a unique and rare opportunity to open up conversations around communication disabilities. Sonny says, "Conversations around stammering in the media are usually portrayed through humour or trying to change people who stammer to have more fluency. Eve and Cain hopes to raise important questions around stammering and help promote representation and further awareness of communication disabilities".
