If you stammer and have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Claire invites you to help with her research.
For her independent project, Claire, a counter-fraud practitioner and academic, is exploring the communication experiences of adults who stammer and have ADHD. She says, "While there is growing research on these things separately, very little research has looked at what it is like to experience both".
Claire explains: "People with ADHD may experience rapid thoughts, impulsive speech or difficulty holding onto ideas in conversation. People who stammer may need to slow their speech or carefully plan what they say. When these experiences occur together, they can create unique communication challenges.
'I want to better understand how adults navigate these experiences in everyday conversations, workplaces and social situations".
What's involved?
Claire invites you to complete a short questionnaire about:
- your communication experiences
- strategies you use in conversation
- how others respond to your speech.
It should take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete and all responses will be anonymous.
If you'd like to take part, please download and complete the consent form below and email it to Claire at clairemaillet123@gmail.com She will then send you the questionnaire.
Claire adds: "With this research, I hope to increase understanding of the diversity of communication experiences among people who stammer. By sharing these perspectives, the study aims to challenge common assumptions about speech fluency and help encourage more inclusive communication environments".

This closing date for this project is the end of September 2026.
