Club origins

The Strava Club was created for our 'It's How We Walk' event in June 2024, when our supporters walked, ran and hiked throughout the month to raise money for our vital support services for people who stammer.

With over 170 contributions that month, our Communities Manager Vee recognised the need to maintain this space for people who stammer and their allies who love to keep active, as well as for anyone doing fundraising challenge events for STAMMA.

Vee says, "It's well known that physical activity doesn't only boost physical health but also mental well-being. So a bit of running or a walk in the park can make all the difference if you have a crap day. And on top of that, physical activity reduces stress and can boost confidence levels.

'I hope our Strava Club motivates people who stammer to be active and gives a motivational boost when you're having a lazy day. It's also an opportunity to stay connected with a community of fellow stammerers".

If you're now thinking you'd like to fundraise to help support our services for people who stammer, head to our Fundraise For STAMMA page to see the different things you can do.
