Watch our interview with author Jordan Scott

8th February 2022

Watch our interview with Jordan Scott about creating a 'stammering world' for his children's book I Talk Like A River.

We chatted with the children's author last Sunday evening for a live interview/Q&A held over Zoom. Jordan called in from the USA to talk with our very own Kirsten Howells about how his own experience of stammering influenced 'I Talk Like a River', which was read by Ed Sheeran on CBeebies' Bedtime Stories last November.

My young children started to fixate on the way that I speak so I wanted to write this story for them to kind of explain the way that their father talks.

He also spoke about his collaboration with the illustrator Sydney Smith to create the 'stammering world' of the book, and touched on his favourite and least favourite depictions of stammering on TV and film. Following the interview, there was a Q&A session with Jordan answering questions from two enthusiastic children, Sonny and Charlie.

You can watch the whole interview/Q&A with Jordan Scott at the top of the page.
